One polymer doing double duty, as a plastic and as a fibre.
Polypropylene is one of those rather versatile polymers that serve double duty, both as a plastic and as a fibre.
Its most important property is that versatility. It can be tailored to many fabrication methods and applications. Excellent chemical resistance, the lowest density, the highest melting point in the family of olefin fibres and a moderate cost make it an important fibre in industrial work.
